From the Artist: My first thoughts were of a city, which to me is mostly 'quick and dirty' and 'crowded'. Buildings, when first constructed, are generally not designed to be drab or grubby, but the nature of city pollution quickly makes them so. This piece was painted over a previous painting so I started off with a very thick coat of titanium white, which I scraped back to form the texture of the buildings, unfortunately my poor little phone camera hasn't been able to pick this up very well.

From the Painting Guide: My vision of the average city also being along the lines of claustrophobic and dirty, it's no surprise I really like this abstraction. It captures the sense of buildings lurking ominously overhead I get among skyscrapers, of endless windows behind which endless people exist. I like the way the buildings behind are done in grayer tones, giving a sense of a lurking row of buildings behind the first.
