From the Artist: This painting began as fun mixing greens and blues while I took a break on the real painting I was working on for this challenge. After it sat for about a week, I had inspiration to put in the dark skyline to evoke the essence of a city. The squares represent the structure found in cities such as buildings, street layouts, and buses. The circles are all the life in and around those squares. The creative process just took over and this is what evolved - much more interesting than my original idea for the project!
From the Painting Guide: Some paintings do take on a life of their own, and I think it's best to let them, to see where you end up as it's never somewhere you could predict. I like the way the painting shifts from abstracted at the top to totally about shape and color at the bottom. The dark tone at the top dominates initially, pulling your eye up to that part of the composition, then the squares of darks below lead your eye down. The fun you had with it definitely comes through, I think.
