From the Artist: This painting reflects the moodiness of Chicago in late fall when rain paints a misty cast over the cityscape and the tops of the tallest buildings emerge almost menacingly from the greyness of the light. This city more than any I’ve visited changes its moods dramatically – dancing in high summer, sleeping in deep winter. For me, the fall in this most amazing city is when the true nature of Chicago reveals itself.

From the Painting Guide: There's a striking moodiness to this painting created by the streaks of paint running down the scene. Is it rain? Are they tears? (Though I'd be surprised if you didn't have a friend or family member who asked why you didn't restrain the dribbles of paint...) Combined with the moody, subdued colors, it gives me a sense of gloom, of looking at a scene where sad events have happened. I find the degree of abstraction and texture in the paint work together well, pulling me in for a long and slow look, creating a story in my mind the more I look.
