Over the last few weeks all the trees in Cairo have burst into flaming red flowers, adding gaiety to the city. There is a line of flaming trees around the wall to the fairgrounds The wall is a soft, salmon pink, and looks nice against the greenery.

The first thing that strikes me is the huge waterslide which coils and twists like a huge serpent. I love the way the sun catches on the tubes.

Standing tall and proud beside the water slide is the ride they call the Scissors. This is the ride that elicits the most screams! It's two arms swing pendulum-like back and forth, higher and higher ... until it stops, suspended in mid-air, before swooshing back down, and back up once more to stop again.

Beneath the Scissors, just before the roller coaster, are two small rides. The first is a teapot, which is a merry-go-round. I like its shape, it reminds me of Aladdin's lamp. It's a little lost among all the other things.

Beside it and half hidden by the roller coaster is my favorite ride ... the Flying Swings. It too, is a merry-go-round fitted with seats on long chains. I love to sit on this, open my arms, closing my eyes and imagine I am flying. My youngest daughter sits beside me.

The roller coaster is full of fun shapes and lines. The little train clack-clacks to the top of the ride on the ride, before hurtling down with a very loud WHOOSH sound to the loop, and back up again. And down in the figure eight. It continues on, getting slower and lower to the bottom. I love al; the scaffolding, bright lines and criss-crossed beams holding it up and the lights that surround it. It is crowned at the top with a sign that is garishly lit with pulsating lights, boasting its name, Looping Star.

Lopping Star is also the sign on the building at the back of the fairground (except that it is backwards in the photo!) I like the colors of this building, the stars on dark blue. The roof is the same color as the water slide and the design of the wall. I even like the row of windows.

Just to the right of the loop is the Viking Ship, which gently rocks to and fro. It is an attractive triangular shape.

And of course, many of the colors are gaudy yellow. There is also a horrible wall at the foot of the water slide, part of the ghost train. It has Dracula and a wolf howling on it ... painted very badly! I am half tempted to go to them and offer my services! I also want to wipe the water slide clean, its coating of dust hides it lovely blue.
