From the Artist: I enjoyed this project once I started the painting even though the underpainting and subsequent outlining was time consuming and fiddly but that was probably because overpainting the red took three layers of blue.
I paint in my dining room in front of a large mirror unit but I don`t think I have conveyed the reflected light well enough. I am quite a tidy person so I have tried to convey this tidiness in the painting by having all my art materials neatly arranged!
I learned a lot about Matisse but still wish we had tackled his people paintings as I find them more exciting -- but a fun project to do. The bottles of wine are important as, at the end of the painting session I have a glass whilst assessing the situation. That's my story!
