From the Artist: I did this painting from a photograph I took when I stumbled upon this vista of my city after a day of teaching. It reminded me that this city, not known for its beauty, has indeed a lot of beauty when you look around. Most of this beauty comes from its geography, which will always triumph over our man-made structures.
From the Painting Guide: I like the way the composition reduces the city to a sliver beneath the scale and beauty of Nature, and the contrast between the rigid lines and monochrome colors of the towerblocks and the curves in the clouds and land. It's a painting that keeps me looking and looking, with my mind pulled in by the complexity of the shapes of color and the variety.
