The artist Justin Clayton is among the more prominent (and successful) of the painting a day painters. This short video shows him in speeded-up action at his easel, and just how small each day's painting is (well, the aim is to finish one a day!). The video is shot at both a distance so you can his still life set up, and close up so you can detail of the painting as it progresses. Just remember to visualize the bits of fruit from his view point, not the camera's. Also take moment to study how the still life is set up with relation to where he's standing and his easel -- he's not looking over his painting arm to see it, and he's got a lamp set up to create strong directional light on his subject. I have to admit, though, that no matter how many times I've watched this painting video, the fruit set out under the lamp looks like a lemon to me and the painting like a kiwi fruit... What do you think?
