In the foreground you can see how I've glazed a touch of burnt sienna in what is intended to be the shallow water on the edge of the sea, over the top of the blue. If you look at the bit where the blue had dribbled down previously, you'll see how clearly this shows through, how transparent burnt sienna can be.
While this was drying, I worked more burnt sienna and blue into the distant hills, then gradually extended it towards the foreground along the shore.
