Guide Review - Skydyes: A Visual Guide to Fabric Painting
Mickey Lawler's hand-painted fabrics are well known among fibre artists. In this book she shares her techniques for creating sky, sea, and earth fabrics through easy-to-follow examples. Each is explained in straightforward, step-by-step instructions and illustrated with photos. Variations are also shown.
While the author uses one particular brand of paint, the techniques aren't restricted to these only. Although the book is aimed at quilters, and there are plenty of examples of finished quilts using Skydyes fabrics, the techniques will be of interest to anyone interested in being adventurous with fabric paint and learning "wet-in-wet watercolour" fabric-painting techniques.
