Don't Get Discouraged

A helpful tip to add to your painting knowledge.

By Marion Boddy-Evans, About.com

Don't give up or be discouraged after completing the first or second coat of your painting. All paintings will go through the 'ugly' stage. The first and second coat is just the beginning. Even professional artists who have painted for years can also find this stage challenging. The only thing that really keeps an artist persevering with their painting sometimes, is the knowledge that following layers of paint, will start bringing the painting together. The first couple of layers of the painting gives you a good chance to really go for it with bold strokes of the brush, covering large areas as these are your base coats.
Tip from: Diana Moore.

I've a collection of old drawings and paintings from across the years and whenever nothing seems to want to go right and I'm doubting that I have even the slightest artistic bone in my body, I dig these out and look through them to show myself that I have improved and that I have got better.
