Colour Mixing Tip - - Organise Your Paints by Tone Not Colour

A colour-mixing tip to add to your colour theory knowledge.

By , About.com Guide

If you want to get a new effect in your painting, organise your paints by tone rather than colour, then grab one that's the right tone for what you're doing, ignoring the 'real' colour. The result will be surprising, but tonally correct. If you doubt it, take a photo and convert it into black and white, and you'll see.
