How do I Frame a Stapled Canvas?

By Marion Boddy-Evans, About.com

Question: How do I Frame a Stapled Canvas?
"I was gifted several side-stapled canvases, but I have no experience with them. I know that they can't really be hung as is, but do they fit a particular frame?" -- Joshua
Answer:

As far as framing them goes, the staples should make no difference at all; the paintings can simply be framed as usual. The staples shouldn't stick out, so shouldn't hamper the alignment the frame on the canvas edge. The frame should also cover and hide the staples.

If you wanted to just paint the edges of the canvas, you could try hiding the staples under a layer of texture paste first.
