The photo shows both the set-up artist Rene Ghirardi did and the still life painting. Notice how the painting differs from the set-up, how it's more lively. The colors are warmer and more saturated, the shadows are stronger and more dramatic.
Rene says: "I find it better to put the box on a table top or counter where it is approximately at eye level when at the easel. But, you can also cut off the top of the box for viewpoints that look down from above. I have one or two which I can put on top of the stage box and gain a height from which to work standing up at the easel."
