Painter's Key artist Robert Genn says that when he starts painting he doesn't "believe in working with a rigid system" though he does work "in some sort of planned order". In this painting he starts with the foreground, then works towards the background "trying to develop a strong black and white pattern". The painting was completed on location in less than an hour, using acrylics, and will be given "a final pass" back in the studio.
