Red and white are the traditional colors for a Christmas stocking, with the main part of the stocking (or sock) being red and the top trimmed with white fur. If you're using this stencil on a surface that is white, make the "fur" bit of the stocking stand out by painting it a light pink, or paint a dark outline around the whole design.
