Using Glazes for Flesh Tones

A tip to add to your figure painting knowledge

By , About.com Guide

To get skin tones that really glow, rather than being flat, lifeless, and muddy, apply your color in thin glazes (layers) and let each dry completely before applying the next. This way your colors mix optically on the paper (as you look at them) and create a depth you simply don't get from mixing your colors and applying them all at once.
