This is a 30-minute figure study done with willow charcoal and a plastic eraser. The first thing done was to block in an area of dark tone, and smooth it into the paper. The figure was then worked onto this, using the plastic eraser to create light tones and adding extra charcoal to create darker tones.

I had initially intended the composition to be contained within the block of dark done I'd put down, but as I was working I extended the figure out of this, all the way to the edges of the A2 sheet of paper.
