Botswana in Southern Africa is a landlocked country with a unique inland delta, the Okavango Delta. During the rainy season (November/December) the water in the Delta is surprisingly low. It’s only after the rainy season has ended that water floods into the delta, from rivers fed by rain that fell thousands of kilometres away, in the highlands of Angola. The best time to visit is the dry season, June/July, when the Okavango Delta is flooded and you can float quietly through it on a mokoro (canoe).
On her Sketchbook Safari, Katie’s aim is to introduce you “to my beloved Africa, the fauna, flora, sounds, and smells which you will hold in your memory for years to come. Looking at your sketches when you return home will hopefully activate these memories even more clearly.”
