Cézanne's Card Players exhibition brings together three of his five famous card players paintings plus the preparatory drawings, watercolours, and oil studies he did for the series. The exhibition runs at the Courtauld Gallery in London from 21 October 2010 to 16 January 2011, before moving to the Metropolitan Museum in New York (9 February to 8 May 2011). For painters it provides a chance to see how Cézanne worked with and developed an idea, and how preparatory studies can be turned into final paintings.
There is an exhibition catalog for sale, and an free teacher's resource guide from the Courtauld. If you're planning to visit, remember there's free admission to the Courtauld on Monday mornings.
