The Van Gogh Letters exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam (from 9 October 2009 to 3 January 2010) showed 120 original letters alongside the works that Van Gogh was writing about. It was a opportunity to see the actual letters, rarely on public display because of their fragility. In all the exhibition had more than 340 items from the collection of the Van Gogh Museum, including paintings, drawings, sketches, and, of course, letters.
The exhibition marked the launch of the new illustrated edition of the complete letters of Vincent van Gogh (read review). A small part of the exhibition toured to the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
