If you've sewn a project and find there's a fabric print that just isn't the right color or tone, consider using some fabric paint to change the color. If it's something that's going to be washed or needs to be soft, it's best to use fabric paint. Otherwise acrylic paint will work, but it does tend to stiffen the fabric.

First brush over the area with a little clean water to dampen the fabric. This will help the paint to spread. Make sure you only dampen the area you want to paint to be so it doesn't bleed into other areas!

Use thin paint and spread it across the area. Thin paint will allow the print of the fabric to show through, and thicker paint will obscure it. Wait until each layer of paint has dried before deciding whether to apply more. It's easier to add another layer of paint if the result isn't right than to try to lift paint off the fabric.

If you want to add a small detail, say some spots on a dog, fabric markers may be easier to use than a brush and paint.
