Applying the Marbling Effect produces a far more sophisticated marbling result and has the advantage that you can save a marbling 'recipe' to use again later, rather than having to remember what you did.

The Marbling Effect is accessed from the 'Effects' menu at the top -- under 'Esoterica' select 'Apply Marbling'. This produces a box with lots of options, all of which influence the way the marbling looks. It's also where you'd save a marbling recipe.

The most important options are:

  • Spacing: controls the space between the spikes in the marbling; set all the way to the right, you'll have only one.
  • Waviness: controls how high the waves are; the lower the number, the flatter the waves.
  • Pull: controls how much distortion there is in the colors; the higher the number, the greater the distortion.
  • Quality: controls how smooth the marbled image is; the higher the setting, the smoother the image will be.
  • Ignore the other options for the moment; this is enough to be working with for the moment. You can investigate them when you feel you've mastered what you're dealing with now.
