Photographer Eamonn McCabe provides a glimpse into the studios of prominent, contemporary artists through his portraits in his book Artists and Their Studios. Some of these are on display as an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London (16 June to 19 October 2008). Whether you're an admirer or never heard of a particular artist, it's fascinating to get a peek into their working practice.
Eamonn McCabe is a professional portrait photographer, but started as a sports photographer: "I have always enjoyed working with loners. Early in my career it was boxers in the gym. Now it is artists, writers and poets. I love seeing where people work and what inspires them. I hope this collection of artists and their studios will inspire some of you viewing this show to go and create some 'art' of your own."
