Definition: Moleskine is a brand of notebook that comes in various formats, sizes, and papers. The covers are usually black leather (some special editions have silk, for instance, and diaries come in red) and there is an elastic band for keeping it closed. Some have a fold-out pocket on the inside of the back cover, useful for storing receipts, feathers, etc.

The Moleskine range includes a sketchbook and one with watercolor paper with a perforated edge so it's easy to tear out the pages. A storyboard Moleskine (photo) has small rectangles printed on every page, perfect for doing thumbnail sketches.
