Definition:

An artist's paint brush consists of three parts: the handle, usually made of wood, the ferrule, which holds the hairs onto the handle, and the hairs or bristles, which can be synthetic or natural. The very tip of the hairs is known as the brush's toe.

The size of a brush is indicated by a number printed on the handle, usually starting from 00 (the smallest), then 0, 1, 2, and up.
