Monthly Painting Project #16: Changing Seasons
Capturing the arrival of spring or autumn.
All Painting Projects

The aim of this painting project is to paint the change in seasons. Whether it's the arrival of spring or autumn will depend on whether you live in the northern or southern hemisphere. But both seasons have characteristic colours and events that herald their arrival.

Spring
• Snow melts
• Spring bulbs appear
• Leaves bud and unfurl
• Fruit trees flower
• Birds return and start nesting
• Days get longer and sunnier

Autumn
• Leaves turn autumnal colours
• Trees drop their leaves
• Birds migrate to warmer areas
• Nights get longer and colder
• People start wearing jumpers

The objective is to get you to decide what most characterises the change in the seasons for you and to paint only this. Often we try to put 'everything' into a painting, rather than being selective and focusing in on the essence of a scene.
