Tracy's Hydrangeas by RM Anitta Trotter
First Painting Sold Gallery
© RM Anitta Trotter 2004, 24 x 24" gallery frame, painted around edges, multi-media on canvas

From the Artist: "I like strong, contrasting colours and light in my paintings. Flowers appeal to me as a subject, but I prefer to focus in on a few blooms instead of the whole bush. The client requested colour matching to a silk flower arrangement in her dining room, reflected in the bottom right bloom. Using a different medium which was then painted, the centers of the individual flowers are raised. When light hits the canvas from one side, strong shadows are created, giving the painting another dimension. This work is compiled from photos of a neighbour’s hydrangea bush taken by my son."
