Multiple Choice – No 5 by Steve Davis
Return to Critique Corner
© Steve Davis, 50 x 70 cm, acrylic on chipboard

From the Artist: "Some problems with a girl :-) Send SMS with 5 "multiple-choice" options, the "right" answer was 5."

You're invited to join the discussions on all the paintings in Critique Corner in the Painting Forum.

From the Painting Guide: A multiple-choice critique seems appropriate:
A. This painting is curiously impersonal, the stylisation of the figures has removed most of their identity.
B. Although this could be an aspect of the scan/photo, the colours are rather muted for something which could so easily be showing passion.
C. The juxtaposition of the number five with the Mondrian-style clothing has created a painting which looks like the view of an audience in a circus tent. Such an unusual setting makes the viewer wonder even more at the story behind the painting.
