Deep Thoughts by Srilatha Narayana Rao

From the Painting Guide: The face is wonderfully pensive, conveying a feeling of someone deep in thought. The intriguing, architectural character of the background is a bit at odds with the seascape, but contributes to the feeling of meditation.

Things to consider:
Figure: The artist has either concentrated on the face and then 'rushed' the body, or is less comfortable with figures than faces, as the body isn't as well rendered as the face. Compare the level of detail in the hands to the facial features. The front forearm is a rather odd shape which'll be resolved by looking at the elbow. The back leg is longer than the front leg – the knee is higher and the top of the ankle is lower than that of the front leg. The legs and the hips are at different angles – the hips are at right angles to the viewer, whereas the arms and legs are turned slighted towards the viewer.
