From the Painting Guide: You don't say who the subject is, but it's obviously a portrait that's been created with love and your warmth towards the subject shows. The darkbackground seems a bit sombre by contrast, but it does put all the focus of the painting on the subject. I wonder how it would look with a bit more of the blue of her eyes in the background. If the lighting is coming from the left, as suggested by the light in her hair and on her back and nose, why is the highlight in her eyes on the right? Also, take another look at size of the two eyes, the left one seems a bit large and dominates the painting a bit, pulling the viewer's focus in on it. The mouth also seems a bit narrow, but that could just be the expression; check the width of this against the corners of the eyes. Return to Critique Corner
