Rainy Weather On The Lake by Sergey Muravyev
• Critique Checklist • Return to Critique Corner
© Sergey Muravyev 2001, 22 x 19", watercolour on paper

From the Artist: "Here I wanted to show soft blur edge of distant mountains, though when the weather is clear, a edge may be very sharp even for far mountains. Also I wanted to reproduce lyric mood of nature, to capture the impressionism. I'll be very much thankful all for any critique for my work."

From the Painting Guide: This is a very tranquil scene, but to my mind with too symmetrical a compostion. The two islands and the two clouds echo each other too much. The mountains have been beautifully rendered, with that changing in tone that one gets with sequential mountain ranges.
