From the Painting Guide: The scene appears somewhat static and would have been enlivened perhaps by an exaggerated use of shadow. (Or perhaps one of the many cats one gets in Greece wandering along?). The perspective is good.
Things to consider:
Colour: The painting feels cold, lacking the warmth or brightness of sunlight (though this could be the photo of the painting). Even the yellow of the flowerbowl has an inherent coolness. It would be interesting to see the same painting done with warmer colours: a hint of yellow to the walls instead of blue, a brighter shade of red on the flowers, a greener reflection on the glass of the doors, and then to compare the two in terms of the emotions the two paintings evoke.
Painting from Photos: Photographs often enhance the blues in a subject. To compensate for this, do some on-the-spot watercolour sketches of sample subjects to help 'colour correct' your photos back home.
