From the Painting Guide: One of the advantages of doing studies for a painting is that you can decide whether it's worth completing, whether changes need to be made, or whether it is perfect. I certainly think a title would help because although the picture is evocative and likely to produce strong reactions in the audience, it doesn't, to me, speak of a particular concern and could be interpreted in a number of ways: are those unloved children, abused women, aborted foetuses, lost souls, suppressed aspects of your life?. As far as it scaring you, I think the same comments apply as with Peg Lattinville's Needle Stick. The images are coming from within you and it's better to face them and express them than suppress them. Return to Critique Corner
