From the Painting Guide: Obviously, not having a photo of this little boy to compare the portrait with, I can't say how accurate a likeness it is, but given the realistic way it has been painted, I would bet it's just like him. You've really captured personality in this portrait: that smile, the way he's looking out of the painting. I like the little touches of red in the background, which give warmth to the painting, balancing the cool blues of this shirt. The reflected light in his eyes, and highlights on his lips, add a brightness, though the highlight on the top of his mouth does make me think a bit of a child with a snotty nose and I'd perhaps tone this down a bit. You've got lovely skintones, with a great variety of colour; it really feels that if you touched it, it would feel like skin rather than paint.
