From the Painting Guide: Again bright primary colours (see Breather), though this time with a neutral grey background, which to me dulls the whole painting. I find the painting unbalanced, with your attention drawn to the left-hand side to the face, with neither the out-of-focus colours on the right, nor the waves, being strong enough to draw your eye out again. I particularly like the eye it's so minimal, yet you immediately read it as eye. It forms quite a contrast to the succulent red lips. The shape is also echoed in the waves, though perhaps the waves need to curve in exactly the same way, rather than just echo the shape. Once again, consider how you're going to frame the painting when you're composing it; if the frame overlaps the canvas you're going to cut off part of your image on the left and top.
