From the Artist: "These are 14x14 drawings/paintings using techniques in wood burning and oil painting using pigments and oil. The image is hand drawn, burned and then coloured using traditional artist methods. Wanda Rose depicts oyster workboats in a back bay off the Chesapeake. I don't see my work as an extension of anyone in particular. Comparing it doesn't really interest me. It's more of a feeling than anything else. Every artist has the opportunity to bring new style into his work. His work will be the culmination of his abilities and interaction with the world around him. It's not the fact that a person sits on the side of a lake or spends his life walking the beaches of the world.easel in hand. It's the conscience development within a person that leads him by the hand during the journey."

From the Painting Guide: The sea and sky in Cut and Run have been captured perfectly and are extremely beautiful. Tonally, the boats in Wanda Rose stick out a bit from the rest of the scene, making them look like decoupage. Either the sea or the sky should be a bit darker, and I'd say the sea. I'd love to know more about this technique: how is the wood chosen and prepared, what equipment is used, how thin the paint is, etc.
