From the Painting Guide: The photo isn't sharp: I assume either the hand holding the camera shook when the photo was taken, or it was taken through glass. This is a quirky picture, with something of a feel of fairy tales to it: the solidity of the watering can in muted brown tones which match the wooden chair (which looks like it could belong to the littlest of the three bears); the Jack-in-the-beanstalk tumbling of the ivy; the mirroring of the flowers with smaller versions; the floating of the chair in space. The picture is a bit top-heavy with the colour of the flowers drawing in the eye to the detriment of the rest of the picture. Return to Critique Corner
