From the Artist: "The scene is looking at the sunrise under Huntington Beach pier, California, with a surfboard leaning on one of the pier supports. I paint a lot of the pier, surfboards, waves, etc. I'm able to sell these fairly easily here in Surf City. We have an 'Artafaire' every Friday at the head of the pier. Hope you like it."

You're invited to join the discussions on all the paintings in Critique Corner in the Painting Forum.

From the Painting Guide: I particularly like the reflection in the water, which really conveys a sense of wonderfully smooth water on sand. Though it's curious that there's no reflection of the fin of the surfboard... Curious too that while the light is coming from between two pillars (given where the reflection lines and shadows are), the pillars themselves are also lit from the left. On the horizon, is that a wave coming in or why does it bulge behind the right-hand pillar? Have you ever done any paintings that are all (or mostly) reflection?
