From the Artist: No artist's statement.

From the Painting Guide: It's inevitable for this kind of painting to be compared to the work of Jackson Pollock. It would've been interesting to have an artist's statement about how the painting was created. Is this truly an 'action' painting? The black and green shapes at the back have a mystical sense about them, like cave paintings. They look painted, rather than poured, like the top layers. (This is not to imply that action paintings were always unplanned; on the contrary, Abstract Expressionist paintings often belie the underlying planning by the artist.)

Things to consider:
Technical: Some concern has been expressed over the durability of Jackson Pollock's action paintings, whether the layers of paint will retain their integrity or whether they'll crack and become too brittle. The tradition of fat over lean is why the paintings of the Old Masters are still in the good condition they are today. This painting combines oils and acrylics. It would be interesting to know which colours are which.
