It's Warm Inside by Donna Thomas
Monthly Painting Project: Changing Seasons
© Donna Thomas 2003, 16x20", oils

From the Artist: "This oil painting was the first snow scene for me. I wanted to keep with the blue/white colours. Please feel free to comment on this."

From the Painting Guide: I think you've conveyed the snow beautifully – crisp and cold, with that clear air that can occur after snow has fallen. The misty rim around the scene lends a feeling of unreality or fantasy, rather than a real scene. Given the stars one can see if you look carefully, that's a full moon rather than the sun. But given how bright a full moon can be and given the positions of the moon and house, I'd expect the snow on the windowsills of the house to be in shadow and not quite so bright.
