Using Low Tack Masking Tape

A helpful tip to add to your painting knowledge.

By Marion Boddy-Evans, About.com

Low-tack tape is a great way of masking out an area on a painting, but be sure to first do a test on a small bit of the same paper to ensure it does come off again, otherwise you could inadvertently ruin a whole painting. To stop the paint from seeping under the tape, paint away from it rather than towards it.
Tip from: Jake.

To make low tack masking tape (which can be more expensive than normal making tape) take a roll of ordinary masking tape and break a piece off at the desired length. Then lightly stick it to your clothes and pull it off; fluff from your clothes will stick to the masking tape and make it low tack.
