Description
Guide Review - Pollock, directed by and starring Ed HarrisThe artist Jackson Pollock, famous for his drip paintings, is the James Dean of 20th century art. Most people know a little about him and tend to romanticise his life. This film not only tells you the story of his adult life, his marriage to Lee Krasner, and the patronage of Peggy Guggenheim, but shows you how difficult a man could be (he struggled with depression, self-doubt, alcoholism and a volatile temper), and how passionately he painted. Ed Harris studied Pollocks life for years, had a hand in the script, analysed his paintings, and learned to paint in Pollocks style to make this film. Harriss passion for the project transforms it into a spectacular film that leaves you with a new appreciation of Pollocks work. Suggested Reading |
