Guide Review - Complex Cloth: A Comprehensive Guide to Surface Design

This book began as a series of notes for classes the author gives, so has a hands-on teaching feel. It explains how to work with fiber-reactive dyes, bleach, fabric paints, water-based resists, photocopy transfers, foils and glitters, stencils, and stamps to create your own fabric designs. Color photos show key steps and equipment, as well as finished fabrics and projects for inspiration. The essential and optional materials for each technique are listed at the start of each explanation. Tips and variations on techniques are sprinkled throughout. The author avoids toxic processes wherever possible and emphasizes safety where this isn't.
