Learn the specific names of the colours of your paints by carrying a colour chart around with you (you should be able to pick a free one up at your local art supply store) and then when looking at things try to identify the paint colour. So instead of thinking "that's red", look at the chart and try to identify which specific red it is, say Cadmium red deep. This way, when you paint, you don't hunt around for a tube of paint but know which specific colour you want for a particular object.
