Here are some arty things on the web I've found interesting recently:

• Painting 150 foot mural for The Hobbit, which it involves the use of a traditional cartoon. Great photos of it as work-in-progress.

• How to make one great painting explained in pictures rather than words. (It's so true!)

• UK National Collection: all 212,000 oil paintings online (and the image illustrating the news is a young Sean Connery working as a life model!)
