"Why is there a high shine or glare in some areas of a painting when you use Liquin medium and what can be done about it?" -- MLPatchiness can happen when there are different amounts of medium in sections of an oil painting; it's not a problem specific to Liquin. To solve it, wait until the painting is touch dry then apply a thin layer of oil medium across the surface, a technique called oiling out. You want the shine to be even before you varnish the painting.
