After reading the article How to Curate a Show in 10 Easy Steps by About.com's new Fine Arts Guide Susan Kendzulak, I thought about Painting Forum Host Starrpoint saying how exhausted she was after setting up the annual miniatures exhibition at 'her' gallery (the Renaissance Art Gallery in Huntington, USA). And, like last year, that she was relieved she wouldn't be doing it again for a year. But Starrpoint always talks about it with such joy it's clear the hard work is well rewarded. As a visitor to an exhibition, the behind-the-scenes work tends to go unnoticed, but there's a lot to get done before opening day.About.com's new Fine Arts section will focus on news and information for art professionals such as art and antiquities dealers, art brokers, art curators, gallery owners, and employees of fine art auction houses. For artists it's sure to provide an accessible way into understanding "the art establishment". So do sign up for Susan's Fine Arts newsletter and join me in welcoming her to About.com.
