If you're interesting in learning about how to analyze paintings a bit more systematically, or formally, Matthew Treherne of the Department of Italian at the University of Leeds in England has written a short, free, online course on analyzing paintings. The course
"...focuses on the formal analysis of art, offering tools to help you analyse the form of paintings, rather than accounts of the history of individual artists or paintings."I haven't read through much of it, so if you do, I'd be interested to know what you think. Find it here...

Focus on Left brain?
This program reminds me a little of those of Wassilli Kandinski in the beginning of the Twentieth century, when he aspired to explain Art in his Schooll “Der blaue Reiter”: moving, intricate and ultimately utopian effort. However… Highly respectable.
It’s great – and all for free! I find it very user friendly, and I appreciate the clear and systematic nature of the course.
