What I Learned on Wednesday...

...oil pastel will adhere to all acrylic surfaces, but better to semigloss or matte than gloss. I found this when was working my way through every entry in the table on mixed-media compatibility on page in the New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook. Makes sense because a matte or semigloss surface gives something for the oil pastel to grip onto, rather than a smooth gloss surface.

I've not worked seriously with oil pastels though I have played with them. I recently rediscovered a bagful I inherited from my Ouma. Beyond time I did something with them, I think!
