Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine
Tuesday November 25, 2008
I've been reading a mixed media magazine that's new to me called Cloth Paper Scissors. I keep envisaging purists having the shudders at the mixing of "fine art" and "craft" techniques, but I don't see the point in being snobby about which you're using. It's the results that matter. While some of the pieces are a bit too chaotic or busy for me, there are others that have made me want to stop reading and give it a go. But "work" first, so I've persevered with the "hard" task of reading, followed by writing a review, and adding it to my list of top artist's magazines. Next I'm going to sit with a cup of coffee and a few biscuits to help me decide what I might put in a painted-fabric booklet of my own. I'll leave you with a quote from the mag:
"Nothing stands in the way of creativity like preciousness. Whether we are holding too tight to beloved images, or staring with trepidation at a blank journal, we have no choice but to proceed with reckless abandon."
